Like throwing parties? Need cash? Have fun and get paid working in Student Activities! Work Study positions are available for US students. Work Study Positions include: Audio/Video Technician, Yearbook Manager, Media Relations, Catering, Decorations, and Poster Manager. Stop by our office in the Student Lounge and see if you're the person for the job!


Open Mic - Friday, January 16th

Are you ready for an amazing, spectacular evening featuring... you? Don't miss the first Open Mic of 2009!
All students, faculty and staff are invited to share songs, poems, dances, short films, rap, magic tricks, or any other form of artistic expression.
If you would like to perform or would like more information, send an email to stuactiv@mum.edu by WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 14th.
You can find sign up forms on bulletin board in the Student Lounge. Please return the sign up form to the Student Activities office, located in the Student Lounge in the Argiro Student Center.


Movie Club Night "The Count of Monte Cristo" - Friday, January 23rd
Dalby Hall - 7:30 pm
Witness the passionate and drama of "The Count of Monte Cristo" this month in Dalby Hall! Edmond Dantes is a man falsely accused of treason by a dear friend. In jail, he plots his escape and incredible revenge... to become the infamous Count of Monte Cristo. Starring James Caviezel and Guy Pearce, released in 2002.


Chinese New Year - Sunday, January 25th
Vishwa Shanti Cafe & Dalby Hall - 7:30 pm
It's time to celebrate the Chinese New Year with a spring festival! Join us at 6:30 for Chinese food in the Lobby of the Argiro Student Center, then move into Dalby Hall at 7:30 for an evening featuring the many beautiful faces of China, including dance performances, songs, interactive games, puppetry and more!


New Students Dance Party - Saturday, January 31st
Argiro Lobby - 8:00 pm
Join us in welcoming the new students to MUM by getting down together with some funky beats! MUM's DJ Club will provide some funkalicious tunes for rockin' with the new student body. Refreshments will be served.


Meet the Filmmakers Reception and Q&A - Tuesday, February 3rd
Argiro Student Center Lobby - 7:30 pm
Dalby Hall - 8:00 pm
Start off your First Friday Art Walk - "Film Festival & Photography Expo" with an evening reception with featured filmmakers. Two of the filmmakers featured at the Film Expo and one media film celebrity will be on hand to give participants an insight into their creative process and a chance to meet them firsthand: Leigh Badgley, documentary filmmaker from Vancouver, B.C.; Steve Schott, producer/director at Hawthorne Direct, Fairfield; and Walter Day, noted video game authority and film celebrity.
Leigh Badgley will be showing a clip from "Dolphin Dealer", a film that she co-produced. Steve Schott will be showing the trailer for a film he made, "Final Season". Walter Day will be showing a clip from "Chasing Ghosts", a film which he acted in.
All of these films will be shown in their entirety during the Film Expo.
Be sure to show up at 7:30 pm to meet the filmmakers in the lobby and enjoy sparkling apple cider and hors d'oeuvres. The event will start at 8:00 pm in Dalby Hall. All students and the general public are warmly invited to attend. The event and refreshments are free for all.


Mr. Illusion Magic Performance - Saturday, February 7th
Dalby Hall - 8:00 pm
Get ready - for the first time on campus, magic will be performed in Dalby Hall! Mr. Illusion is a gifted magician and illusionist with a wicked sense of humor, and he's ready to dazzle you in sparkling wonderment! You won't want to miss this stunning performance! If you haven't seen anyone levitating before (outside of the domes, of course), then this night you will!


Lindy Hop Valentine's Day Dance - Saturday, February 14th
Argiro Student Center Lobby - 8:00 pm
This Valentine's Day will be a roarin', swingin' bonanza! Put on your best Roarin' 20s attire for the Lindy Hop Valentine's Day Dance! We'll be doing the Lindy Hop to celebrate the power of L-O-V-E! Refreshments will be served, and student DJs will play smooth music to swing to!

Brush up on your swing skills at Lindy Hop classes every Wednesday evening at 8 pm in the Argiro Dance Studio.

Dance Studio - Argiro Student Center
Get ready for the Valentine's Day dance with Lindy Hop dance classes! Classes are taught by Kevin Incorvia and Andrea Smith, every Wednesday evening at 8 pm in the dance studio. The dance studio is located in the basement of the Argiro Student Center. Classes are free for students.

January Open Mic



ANNOUNCING M.U.M.'s OPEN MIC

Are you ready for an amazing, spectacular evening featuring... you?

Join us for Open Mic, an evening that celebrates the incredible talents of MUM students! All students, faculty and staff are invited to share songs, poems, dances, short films, rap, magic tricks, or any other form of artistic expression!

Mark your calendars for Friday, January 16th at 8 pm, at Dalby Hall in the Argiro Student Center! Refreshments will be served!

If you would like to perform or would like more information, send an email to stuactiv@mum.edu or simply fill out the attached form by WEDNESDAY, January 14th.

You can also return the sign up form to the Student Activities office, located in the Student Lounge in the Argiro Student Center. Paper copies are also available on the bulletin board in the Student Lounge.
