Science Club Presents "2012: Science or Superstition?" - Tuesday, February 17th
7:30 pm - Dalby Hall
Science Club Presents the screening of "2012: Science or Superstition?". December 21, 2012: the end date of the sophisticated Long Count Calendar created by the ancient Maya in Central America. Countless books and websites, magazine articles and newspaper headlines debate its meaning, with enthusiasts in two camps: those forecasting apocalypse–the end of time–and those who see a coming renewal, a rebirth of consciousness.
Adding fuel to the debate, some scientists see the increasing number of natural disasters in recent years as evidence of a catastrophic climax of events in 2012. How much of what we're hearing is science and how much is superstition? In this film the leading researchers, writers and scientists in the field tell us exactly what this date means to them, why it's important, and what we should expect.

A open discussion will take place after the screening.

"Simply Raw: Reversing Diabetes in 30 Days" - Wednesday, February 18th
7:30 pm - Dalby Hall
Simply Raw: Reversing Diabetes in 30 Days is an independent documentary film that chronicles six Americans with 'incurable' diabetes switching their diet and getting off insulin.

The film follows each participant's remarkable journey and captures the medical, physical, and emotional transformations brought on by this diet and lifestyle change. We witness moments of struggle, support, and hope as what is revealed, with startling clarity, is that diet can reverse diabetes* and change lives. Additional wisdom is provided by Morgan Spurlock, Woody Harrelson, Anthony Robbins, Rev. Michael Beckwith, and Doctors Fred Bisci, Joel Furman, and Gabriel Cousens.

Movie Club Presents "Casablanca" - Friday, February 20th
7:30 pm - Dalby Hall
Movie Club Presents "Casablanca", the classic from 1942. This classic film is set in unoccupied Africa during the early days of World War II. An American expatriate meets a former lover, with unforeseen complications... They had a date with fate in Casablanca! Don't miss one of the top films of all time!

Rock Paper Scissors in Concert! - Saturday, February 21st
8:00 pm - Dalby Hall
Miranda Mallard, Darla Murphy, and Gemma Cohen formed the band Rock Paper Scissors when they realized that they each collectively believed that harmonizing was their dharma. You might of heard of Punk Band, or the Right Side-up Song Girls, or VatPitKaph, or the Uh Girls, or the Da Llama Sisters, or Trio Contemporario, or the Sophisticated Ladies and their Male Accompanists, or [fill in the blank]. They are all of these things and more — including their sit-in pianist Eric Hurlin. “We should have a raucous band argument and put the transcript on the website,” says the world-renowned Hurlin, who still remembers the group’s debate over their mild-mannered moniker. “In the band, Darla is Scissors, Miranda is Paper, and I Rock,” says Cohen, putting an end to speculation once and for all. To this day many who’ve experienced a Rock Paper Scissors performance agree the band members are quite eccentric.

Rock Paper Scissors reveal their love of music through shared smiles and a collective urge to give the gift of music to as many people as possible. “Music is how we give back to the world and to all of its inhabitants,” says Mallard. From Andrews Sisters to traditional folk to medieval mass, these three lovely ladies weave their voices into something far beyond ordinary. “I really like singing songs from such a diverse array of sound,” says Murphy. The band also writes their own music to bring a personalized angle to their unique sound.

Don't miss these incredible girls, this Saturday, only at MUM! Free for students, faculty, staff and IA course participants, $5 general.

The Academy Awards Party - Sunday, February 22nd
6:00 pm - Dalby Hall
Don't miss the 81st Annual Academy Awards! We'll celebrate this evening's festivities by broadcasting the event LIVE in Dalby Hall starting at 6 pm. Enjoy an hour of stars arriving on the red carpet, then watch the event live at 7 pm! We're rolling out the red carpet and will be serving refreshments.
